It seems Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho has finished his business in running transfer window this summer. But still he has found an interest in the Saints star Jose Fonte. Jose Fonte which is officially known as Jose Miguel da Rocha Fonte is a Portuguese international defender and Mourinho wants to include him to rich his defensive line whereas he is an experienced centre back. And so, the Red Devils boss has prepared almost £12 million bid for this defender. But the club wants him to wait until the deadline to test the Saints.
Though, Mourinho is keen to bring this player at the Old Trafford but it is not mean that he in in top priority. Fonte would just make his defense stronger but they have already possess Eric Bailly and Daley Blind and they have already shown impressive performances in the last matches of the Reds Devils in Premier League 2016/17 against Southampton and Bournemouth. And that statistics has also convinced the chief Mourinho that the team would not need 32 years old Portuguese man.
However, earlier this summer, other English clubs wanted to collect him though, finally they shifted their target but Mourinho thought that he is experienced enough to recruit and would be useful for the Red Devils.
On the other hand, vice chairman of Manchester United has stated that they are unable to buy any player until some are sold out from the camp. If they are willing to buy, then perhaps they would sell someone this summer. But Mourinho has hope and stayed until the deadline.
The Saints would probably expect almost £8 million for this 32 years old defender but if they are waited then perhaps they should reduce their expectation, according to the Red Devils.
The Saints have already sold their two best weapons named Sadio Mane and Victor Wanyama this summer. And they have continuously lost their players. It would probably suffer them in this season.
Jose Fonte has already played for many clubs in his career where started with Sporting B in 2002, later in Felgueiras and Vitoria Setubal. He joined at the Portuguese top tier Benfica in 2006 but fail to play any match with them. They just used him on loan to others. While playing with the, he spent three season consecutive loan period with three different clubs. Later, Crystal Palace took him in 2008 and the Saints took him in 2010 for £1.2 million. Now, at the end of his career, he is heading to the Old Trafford which would be the best destination for him.
