Sebastian Vettel has beaten Lewis Hamilton in the first race of F1 season in Melbourne, as team Ferrari picked up their first win since September 2015. Thanks to Sebastian Vettel who won the race, though he started second in the starting grid. Lewis Hamilton was forced to pit much earlier because of tyres degradation and he got stuck behind Max Verstappen. He was behind the dutch man for eight long laps and could not overtake him. This costed him the race and allowed Sebastian Vettel to complete the race ahead of Lewis Hamilton by almost 10 seconds earlier.
Ferrari failed to register a single race win last year. And eventually this victory in 26th March has made them first team to win the opening Grand Prix of the season since 2013 other than Mercedes.
With this win Sebastian Vettel has been charted top with 25 points and with 7 points margin with the second Lewis Hamilton. Lewis Hamilton is in second position in Australian Grand Prix in with 18 points.
Whatever, Sebastian Vettel said after the win that, “It’s a great relief for everyone. This is just the beginning.” Ferrari has won this race after almost one and a half year. And one more fact is supporting Vettel’s relief that 19 out of last 27 seasons, the wiiners of the first race went on to win the championship.
He added, “I have great respect( for Hamilton). He has proven to be one of the quickest drivers on the grid and I would love to have a close battle. It is a lot of fun to race for victories and a lot of fun to race against the best. Right now it looks like we have equal machinery and I hope it stays that way.
Hamilton said, “It has been a privilege to be racing in an era with him and finally we are in a period of time when we can actually have a real race.” He hopes that, now it is high time for sports world to see an intense rivalry between him and Sebastian Vettel. He hopes that it will be bigger rivalry that him and Nico.
he also added, “At least we have a great driver in Sebastian winning four titles after his incredible surge into Formula One and he will continue to be a force for many years to come.”
“I am really grateful to have that fight with him, against Ferrari which is the next best team, and there is a top driver there, too.”
Sebastian Vettel and Lewis Hamilton are two of the most successful drivers of all time. They have won a total of 7 F1 racing championship title. The Australian Grand Prix was the 179th race where Vettel and Hamilton has shared the starting grid together. But surprisingly these two have never shared the podium first second to each other in their career only for once. So, their battle has never turned into a rivalry yet. But, now here in 2017 Formula 1 championship, in the first race in Australian Grand Prix these two are first and second in the point table respectively. So, there is a higher chance of them standing next to each other in 2017 Formula 1 Championship at the end of the season.
