Bangladesh Premier League is a professional T20 league tournament which first tournament was held in 2012. Since then it used to be held annually except 2014 due to some problem. So, till now, three most exciting season of BPL have passed.
It was founded in 18th January, 2012 which is organized by Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB). Since the beginning, total six franchise clubs used to compete here. Among them, the most successful team is Dhaka Dynamites with two titles. But the current champion is Comilla Victorians.

Whereas, this is an annual tournament, so, this year it will be held again. Though, the complete fixture of schedule releasing date is not revealed yet but we can imagine the approximate time. According to the last season, this tournament will begin in next November, 2016 which will be end up in next December, 2016. It will be the fourth edition of the Bangladesh Premier League.

Though, it is one of the newest edition of cricket T20, ut also it used to telecast in many countries. In Bangladesh, Channel Nine holds the official right to promotion and also distribution of the event for three years. They have got this exclusive right in exchange for US $120.12 million. Besides, BPL holds the contract with seven other satellite networks which will broadcast this tournament across the world. ESPN will show this tournament in North America including United States, Mexico and Canada. India will be telecasted by NEO Prime network. Geo Super will broadcast in Pakistan where MTV Sports holds the right to live cover this upcoming tournament in Sri Lanka. Channel Nine UK still holds the exclusive right to telecast this complete tournament in United Kingdom where BeIN Sports will show it in Middle East. In Caribbean, this edition of BPL will be broadcasted by Sportmax and Premier Sports. Besides, some channels will try to make a deal with the league to hold the broadcasting rights.
According to the last all season, total six franchise teams used to compete here which were Barisal Bulls, Rangpur Riders, Dhaka Dynamites, Sylhet Super Stars, Chittagong Vikings and Comilla Victorians but in next upcoming fourth edition of BPL, this participants will be expanded from six to eight where the two new franchise teams are Khulna Royal Bengals which will represents khulna city and Duronto Rajshahi by representing Rajshahi. Among all participants, Comilla Victorians are the most valuable franchise team with approximately US $27.50 million value.
Each participating team in upcoming BPL 2016 can take total eighteen (18) players including highest eight overseas players where maximum four overseas players will eligible to take part in each match. Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) 2016 will be staged according to double round robin formation where in group stage, each team will have to play each other twice. At the end, top point holder four teams will qualify for next round.
Total six venues from four different cities are selected for upcoming biggest T20 cricket competition in Bangladesh. The host cities will be Dhaka, Chittagong, Khulna and Cox’s Bazar.
