BBC pundits have their verdicts on whether the EPL season restart or not

April 16, 2020 by Robert Lincoln

English Premier League the highest tier competition of English football’s ongoing season had to be postponed due to corona virus pandemic. The authorities haven’t taken any final decision on the future of this currently on hold competition. All the EPL sides took part in a meeting and came to an agreement that if the season doesn’t restart prior to 30th June, the campaign will be null and void. Popular sports media BBC’s pundits have their verdicts on this context. We will discuss their opinions in this article :

Danny Murphy : According to Murphy, protecting people’s health is more important than anything in the world specially at this moment. However, he reminds us that there will come a time when football starts again. Thus he clears if there is a way of safely doing it behind closed doors with the option to broadcast it, then he has his support for it. He expects many people to watch it.

Chris Sutton : Sutton said they’re just speculating at the moment as no one knows how long the lockdown will last. He thinks the right thing is to wait and see. He reminds the urge is to get the economy back on track and going again. So Sutton is in no hurry to restart it within a quick time.

Ruud Gullit : The Dutch man starts, football is not as important as the well-being of people in general. He added it is not more important than people who have other kind of businesses and are in huge kind of trouble. The former AC Milan player has expressed his concern on saving people of every sphere. However, the ex midfielder has reminded that, if things continue like this, the football clubs are also going to face same sort of problems.

Pat Nevin : The former Scottish footballer said that everyone wants answers immediately. But actually no one can answer without having enough information. The 56 years old added that, it will be a very bad thing to make decisions at this moment. He thinks the authority must take 3 or 4 weeks to finalize things after monitoring the condition of the pandemic. He also hopes that, if the luck supports the health service will be in a much better condition within the next 3 or 4 weeks.

Karen Caney : He also gave priority to the health as well as the safety. He suggests them to finish it but only when they can do it safely, unless they shouldn’t.
