Minnesota Timberwolves Salary Range Cap 2020

The Minnesota Timberwolves also knew commonly as the Wolves are one of the professional basketball team based in Minneapolis. The Timberwolves compete in the National Basketball Association (NBA) as a member of the league’s Northwest Division of Western Conference. The team was founded in 1989, and the team was owned by Glen Taylor who also owns the WNBA’s Minnesota Lynx. Since 1990, the Wolves play their home games at the Target Center. After the acquisition of Kevin Garnett in the 1995 draft, the Wolves qualified for the playoffs in eight consecutive seasons from 1997 to 2004. Timberwolves won their first division championship in 2004 and advanced to the Western Conference Finals in the same season.

In 2016, the Timberwolves agreed to sign Tom Thibodeau to be their head coach and president of basketball operation. He was previously as assistant coach for the team 1989 to 1991. Kevin Garnett also announced his retirement same year after 21 seasons in the NBA. The Wolves ended their seasons with a 31-51 record, having only a two game improvement from their previous season.

On June 22, 2017, the Timberwolves acquired Jimmy Butler and the 16th overall pick in the 2017 draft in trade for Zach Lavine, Kris Dunn and the 7th overall pick in the draft that used to select Lauri Markkanen. Later that night, the Timberwolves selected center Justin Patton with the 16th overall pick in the draft. Later, the team added Taj Gibson, Jeff Teague, Jamal Crawford, and Derrick Rose during free agency.

In 2019, after the Thibodeau’s firing, it was announced that Ryan Saunders would serve as intern head coach. On May 1st it was announced that Timberwolves had hired Gersson Rosas, who previously served as the Houston Rocket’s executive vice president of basketball operations. On May 20th, after conducting interviews with several candidates, the Timberwolves announced that Ryan Saunders had been hired to a multi-year deal to become the team’s permanent head coach, removing his interim status. After Rosa’s hiring, the Timberwolves also made several front office changes in the organization.
