Crystal Palace manager Sam Allardyce revealed his thoughts on relegation battle and premier league status when he faced the media in a pre match press conference before taking on Liverpool on Sunday. The big Sam thinks that 3 points from the next 3 fixtures should be enough for his side to secure their EPL status for the next season. The experienced trainer is keen to grab 3 points from the next 3 league clashes.
The Eagles had been fighting the relegation battle till the January as they faced consecutive downfalls earlier in the season but as soon as Allardyce came to the Selhurst Park there was a huge change in their fortune. They started displaying some good football and got some crucial victories under their new coach and now are on the 16th place in the league table with 35 points and are clear 4 points ahead of the relegation zone with 6 matches remaining in the league this season. 18th place Swansea have bagged 31 points so far and just have 4 matches in their hand.
The former England national team boss who has a vast experience and knows the EPL very well, said that 38 points had been enough to survive and stay in the league for the last 10 years and the 62 years old firmly believes that it will be pretty much enough on this occasion too. Crystal Palace will visit the Anfield and then will host Tottenham and Burnley respectively in space of 7 days and their manager wants 3 points from this games. Liverpool are chasing Champions League spot and it will be tough to get back to the home with something from the Anfield clash. The Tottenham game will be another big test as the Spurs are in great touch. But they really have a big chance against the Clarets. They really can earn a victory there and that should be enough to fulfill Allardyce’s wish.
The Eagles are also in good form as they have won 6 out of their last 10 EPL matches and drew once and had tasted just 3 defeats during this period. They were able to get a surprising 2-1 away victory against Chelsea. Although many English giants struggled at the Stamford Bridge, the Eagles had done a sensational job to surprise the football world. They also thrashed Arsenal 3-0 at home, which was so much impressive. But some big tests are waiting for them as they will visit both the Manchester giants in the finishing part of the season and will look to win against Hull City when the Tigers will visit the Selhurst Park.
