Chelsea manager Antonio Conte reveals that Michy Batshuayi is set to replace suspended striker Diego Costa. The Blues will host Bournemouth in their boxing day league clash on Monday afternoon at the Stamford Bridge. Chelsea’s top choice striker Diego Costa is set to miss the clash, as he has been suspended for the game for seeing his fifth yellow card of the season.
The Spaniard striker has netted 13 times so far for the Blues in the league this season and also is the top scorer of the league. So his absentee will be a very big woe for the table toppers but their Italian coach didn’t seem worry at all as he applauded his second choice striker and just thinks that the Belgian is ready to fire, if given chances.
The 23 years old forward was signed from Ligue 1 side Marseille earlier this season for £33 million, but despite being one of the biggest signings of the premier league, he is yet to get a premier league start so far. He has just started in the EFL Cup and has been played as a substitute in the league matches. The former Standard Liege attacker has featured in 13 matches so far for the Blues and netted thrice.
The Italian manager faced the media in a pre match press conference and talked about the Belgian. The 47 years old thinks that Michy is all set and ready to play if he gets chances. He adds that he won’t talk much as it will put pressure on the young man. He also says that the young Belgian knows what he has to do as all these things have been discussed in the training. The former Italy national football team Boss thinks that the most important thing for Michy is to keep working and keep continuing but the tactical man didn’t guarantee him a first team place.
The table leaders’ head coach didn’t stop praising his young gun as he thinks the 23 years old deserves to be there as his attitude, behaviour was fantastic. The former Marseille attacker is eager to improve his ability and fitness as well, his manager reveals.
Michy Batshuayi is one of the biggest prospects of the Belgium’s golden generation. Last season he scored 23 goals for Marseille in his 50 outings for the Ligue-1 side. His team Chelsea is flying high in the league table. They are the table toppers with 43 points from the first 17 league clashes.
