Armageddon was a professional wrestling pay-per-view event produced by the World Wrestling Entertainment. The show was created in 1999 and made the debut on December 12. The show used to occupy the December slot of the WWE’s PPV event schedule. It was held in every December between 1999 to 2008 with the exception of 2001. The WWE authority arranged the show 9 times and after it’s 2008 edition, the event was replaced with TLC: Tables, Ladders and Chairs. In 2003, Armageddon was made exclusive to the Raw brands but then from 2004 to 2006, it remained exclusive to the SmackDown brand. For the last two editions, it was once again open to all 3 brands of the WWE.
The inaugural edition which took place in 1999, was hosted by the National Car Rental Center. The show was watched live by more than 17 thousands fans at the Sunrise, Florida based venue. The main event featured Triple H and Vince McMahon as the duo battled in a No Holds Barred match. In the start of the new century, the second edition of the event was held on December 10, 2000 and Birmingham-Jefferson Civic Center got the privilege to host it. On this occasion just a touch short of 15 thousands fans gathered at the Birmingham, Alabama based stadium. After a year gap in 2001, the show once again returned to the Sunrise, Florida as the 2002 edition was hosted by the Office Depot Center. The 4th edition in 2003 was also held in a Florida based venue as TD Waterhouse Center of Orlando was selected by the authority on this occasion to hold the program. The latest Armageddon event was arranged on December 14, 2008 and it took place at the HSBC Arena of Buffalo, New York. 12,500 spectators watched the show live and it received 193,000 PPV buys. The main event was contested for a WWE Championship title and it featured Edge, Triple H and Jeff Hardy as the they locked horn in a Triple Threat match.
