Extreme Rules is a professional wrestling pay-per-view event produced by WWE. Since getting it’s debut in June 2009, the event is arranged annually and has taken place every year so far. 10 editions of the show has been successfully arranged and has gained a massive popularity. The name of the event was derived from the hardcore characteristics of the most matches of this show. The event name was established in 2009. The event initially started as a post wrestlemania event which was used to be held in April or May. But after going through a couple of phases, in 2018 the event was finally announced as the dual brand event and moved to the July slot.

The event started it’s journey in June 7, 2009 at the New Orleans Arena in New Orleans, Louisiana. In the main event of that inaugural edition, spear master Edge squared off with Jeff Hardy in a ladder match for the World Heavyweight Championship. The 10th and so far the latest edition took place on July 15, 2018 which entertained more than 14,700 spectators at the PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The main event of the show featured Dolph Ziggler and former Shield member Seth Rollins, who battled in a 30-minute Iron Man Match for the WWE Intercontinental Championship.
