New Year’s Revolution was a professional wrestling pay-per-view event produced by World Wrestling Entertainment. The show was created in 2005 and as the name of the show indicates, it used to be arranged in January. More clearly the event occupied the early January slot of the WWE’s PPV event scheme. But unfortunately the show was arranged only thrice in the history between 2005 to 2007. After the 3rd edition in 2007 the show was removed as the authority decided to decrease the number of PPV events per year. The show was made exclusive to the Raw brand throughout it’s history.
Jose Miguel Agrelot Coliseum got the privilege to host the inaugural edition of the show. It took place on January 9, 2005 and more than 15 thousands fans attended the San Juan, Puerto Rico based venue to watch the show live. The promotional poster featured Batista. The main event of the night was an Elimination Chamber match and The Animal squared off with the likes of Randy Orton, Triple H, Chris Jericho, Chris Benoit and Edge for the vacant World Heavyweight Championship title. The next event was held in the Pepsi Arena and 11 thousands fans watched the show live from the Albany, New York based Stadium. On this occasion, “The Champ” John Cena appeared on the promotional poster. In the main event, Cena defended his World Heavyweight Championship title against Shawn Michaels, Carlito, Chris Masters, Kurt Angle and Kane in an Elimination Chamber match. But as soon as the match ended, Money in the Bank winner Edge cashed in his Money in the Bank contract to challenge an injured John Cena and beat the champion to grab the World title. Kemper Arena of Kansas City, Missouri hosted the 3rd edition of the show where 10 thousands fans watched it live. Once again the main event featured John Cena as the WWE champion took on Umaga to defend his title.
